CURSED BLESSING By Huldah V. Samuels

CURSED BLESSING

Her shores are caressed by the ocean blue

Her roaring mountains, majestic and true

Her fields are lush, yielding a hundred fold

And blessed she is, with diamond and gold

Though her children live in squalid poverty

For these precious gems and stones they flock

Those voracious vultures and crows and hawks

With appetite insatiable and thirst unquenchable

They swoop with ferocity unimaginable

To plunder and sponge on this prolific land

So mother earth mourns and weeps tears of blood

For the rape of her cherished land, and the flood

Of even more predators pillaging her nation

And leaving her suffering children in deprivation

Thereby turning their blessings to a curse
